AI-Powered Photo Finder for Nightlife Venues

After an exciting night out at a premium venue, guests struggle to find their photos among the hundreds captured by in-house photographers. The conventional method of searching through Google Drive or unorganized web galleries is frustrating and time-consuming. As a result, countless high-quality, professionally-captured moments get lost, and the post-event experience feels disconnected and clumsy.

Designing an Instant Photo Platform for Unforgettable Experiences

Designing an Instant Photo Platform for Unforgettable Experiences

I designed the UI and UX for Holymoment, a platform purpose-built for the fast-paced nightlife environment. It uses facial recognition to instantly deliver a personalized photo gallery to each guest. My design process was focused on delivering a seamless, "wow" experience:

  • Frictionless Onboarding: I designed a simple, one-time face scan process that a guest could complete in seconds on their own device. The interface was crafted to be intuitive and not so-techy.

  • Instant Gratification: Immediately after the scan, the user is presented with a curated gallery containing only their photos. I designed the gallery interface to be clean, easy to navigate, and optimized for quick downloading and social sharing, turning discovery into an immediate reward.

  • Scalable for Venues: I created a design system that was not only visually appealing but also scalable, ensuring a consistent and premium user experience as the platform onboards more venues and events.

Unlike the endless scroll through generic photo galleries, Holymoment uses facial recognition to deliver a personal gallery of your best moments—instantly and effortlessly

Behind The Design

Holymoment was an initiative by Holywings, Indonesia's leading entertainment and lifestyle group, to solve a critical gap in their customer experience. While a dedicated photography team ("Holycam") captured exciting moments at their venues, the photo delivery process was manual and fragmented. Guests had to contact photographers via WhatsApp/Instagram or go through Customer Service, who would then manually search for photos based on the guest's description and appearance.

This system was not only time-consuming but also created significant privacy and fraud risks, as anyone could potentially claim someone else's photos. Holymoment was designed as the definitive solution. It is a digital platform that leverages a state-of-the-art AI facial recognition system with liveness detection, ensuring users can only scan their face live. This provides guests with instant, secure, and personalized access to a gallery containing only their photos, eliminating the frustrating manual search and protecting their privacy.

Defining the core problem

With a clear understanding of the user's frustrations from the Empathize phase, the next step was to synthesize these insights. This phase is all about pinpointing the exact problem we need to solve, framing it in a way that is both human-centered and actionable. By creating a clear problem statement and hypothesis, we set a focused direction for the entire project.

Problem Framing

Problem Statement

Guests at high-volume nightlife venues lack a fast, private, and efficient way to find their own photos from events. The current manual process of searching through large public galleries is time-consuming, leads to a poor user experience, and creates significant privacy and fraud risks.

Hypothesis

We believe that by creating a self-service platform that uses AI facial recognition with a live face scan, we can provide guests with a secure and instant way to access only their own photos. We predict this will dramatically increase photo engagement and sharing, while also enhancing the venue's brand image and protecting guest privacy.

Proposed Solution

A web-based application accessible via a direct URL, eliminating the need for guests to download a native app. The platform is designed mobile-first and allows guests to perform a one-time, live face scan. The system then automatically matches their face to photos from the event and presents them in a private, personalized gallery. From this gallery, users can download high-resolution images and share them directly to social media.

What If..
What If..
Finding your photo was as simple as looking in a mirror?

Ah ini sih keren banget :) I wouldn't have to contact customer service or share my WhatsApp number with a photographer.

What if your best photos from the night were already on your phone before you even left the venue?

I could post my best moments to my Instagram story while I'm still at the party. Canggih banget deh, ngebantu juga buat muasin ke #FOMOan user

Every shared photo became a personal invitation for others to visit the venue?

That's actually really cool. My friends always ask where I go out. If they saw my photos and it made them want to go too, it's like I'm giving them a personal recommendation.

Key Takeaways
Key Takeaways

Frictionless Onboarding is Crucial: The success of the platform heavily relies on the speed and simplicity of the initial face scan. Any friction at this stage would cause users to drop off.

Privacy Builds Trust: Emphasizing the security of the live face scan and the private nature of the gallery was key to encouraging user adoption.

The "Wow" Moment Matters: The instant delivery of a personalized gallery created a powerful "wow" moment that drove organic sharing and positive word-of-mouth.
